HISTORY
The Old Chapel was originally built as the home of the Provo 4th Ward. Construction began in 1914, and the building was dedicated in 1924 by Heber J. Grant. Door-prizes at the dedication included a lifetime Sheaffer pen, a brand new 1925 Chevrolet, and a live bull!
The building was home to the 4th Ward for nearly 60 years, then as a wedding reception center for over 20.
Provo businessman, Greg Soter, saw a small “For Sale By Owner” sign posted on the front lawn while driving past the building in 2010. At that time, the structure was beginning to attract graffiti and slip into decline. “Someone needs to preserve the exterior of that building, and put some drop-dead, gorgeous, Manhattan-style apartments inside it,” Greg thought to himself.
The Old Chapel Apartments are the result of that thought.
We hope to have breathed decades of new life into this grand old structure, and to have provided wonderful, unusual living space for those who share the vision.
